We express our deep concern and disappointment over the forced retirement of Dr. Nabil A. Assaad—a highly respected and much-loved doctor and surgeon who has served our community for over 50 years.

Dr. Assaad has dedicated his life to the health and wellbeing of countless individuals and families, many of whom have relied on him across multiple generations. He remains mentally sharp, physically capable, and committed to his patients. His forced retirement, reportedly mandated by the The Medical Council of NSW, is a decision that not only disregards his ongoing ability to serve, but also leaves a significant number of patients in distress.

Many of Dr. Assaad’s patients are currently awaiting surgeries and rely on him for follow-up care and referrals. Removing him from practice so abruptly risks serious consequences for their health and wellbeing.

We believe Dr. Assaad deserves the right to continue serving his community, and his patients deserve the continuity of care they have trusted for decades.

We call upon the The Medical Council of NSW and the  relevant authorities  (AMA and MCNSW) to:

- Review the decision to force Dr. Assaad into retirement.
- Recognize his ongoing fitness to practice.
- Allow Dr. Assaad to continue providing care to his patients, particularly those currently undergoing or awaiting treatment under his guidance.
 
Dr. Assaad is more than a doctor—he is a lifeline, a mentor, and a trusted figure in our community. His removal from practice is not only unjust, it is deeply harmful.
