Petition to Strengthen Animal Protection Laws in India
The Issue
Every day in India, countless dogs and other animals suffer extreme cruelty—they are beaten, poisoned, burned, abandoned, and killed. Shockingly, the current law only fines offenders ₹50 (less than a cup of tea!), allowing them to continue harming animals without fear of real consequences.
But now, a new amendment to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act is about to be introduced in Parliament. This law will finally bring justice to animals by:
· Increasing fines to ₹50,000 - ₹75,000 and jail time of 1 to 3 years for cruelty!
· Recognizing animals’ right to live free from pain, fear, and neglect.
· Giving special protection to stray dogs, calling them “Community Animals” and ensuring they receive food and shelter.
This bill must be passed without delay to ensure that India moves towards becoming a nation that respects and protects its animals.
What We Demand:
1️ Pass the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Amendment) Bill NOW!
2️ Ensure strict enforcement of this law so no abuser goes unpunished!
3️ Declare crimes against animals as serious offenses under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
4️ Increase public awareness about animal rights and humane treatment.
Why This Matters to YOU:
· Stronger laws mean fewer cases of brutal animal abuse.
· Stray dogs will finally be safe from harm and mistreatment.
· Holding abusers accountable will prevent future cruelty.
· A kinder society for animals is a better society for humans too!
We need at least 1 MILLION signatures to show the Government that Indians care about animals and demand justice.
