Petition to Stop the TTC from PERMANENTLY Rerouting The East Mall 111 Through Beaver Bend
The Issue
Help Stop the Permanent TTC East Mall 111 Southbound Bus Reroute Through Our Street.
The TTC East 111 Mall bus (southbound) will be permanently rerouted through Beaver Bend Crescent, instead of remaining on The East Mall.
🕰️ What This Means for You
According to the TTC’s schedule for Talgarth (southbound):
Buses will pass SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, from 5am to 1am through every 11 to 15 minutes during the day, and every 20–27 minutes during the evening.
This adds over 120 bus passes per day to our street!.
⚠️ Why This Is a Major Concern
Beaver Bend Crescent and West Deane is not designed for this level of traffic. It is a narrow, curved residential street. This change will undoubtedly:
- Create a serious safety risk for children, pets, and pedestrians
- Disrupt the peace and livability of our street
- Introduce constant traffic, noise, and diesel emissions
- Make it unsafe for everyday activities like biking, walking, or even street hockey
- Erode property value and residential character, without any community consultation
- The TTC has provided no evidence that it has conducted a thorough assessment of this change or consulted with the local community
- Create increased traffic congestion on neighbouring streets
✍️ What You Can Do Today
Councillor Stephen Holyday filed a motion with the City Clerk to discuss the re-routing of the bus at the upcoming City Council meeting on June 25, 2025.
In the motion, he has requested: (1) TTC to pause the reroute, (2) Transportation services to pause the four permits for the new bus pads, and (3) Transportation services to coordinate a review to assess the opportunity to install a pedestrian crossing.
