It’s deeply troubling to hear our city’s own mayor dismiss the voices of local residents—many of whom are highly qualified scientists, engineers, and public health professionals—as spreading misinformation.

At the March APC public hearing, speakers included:

· Professionals in semiconductor field, who understand the industrial process.

· Healthcare providers and public health researchers, who know the risks of air and water pollution on child development and long-term community health.

· Residents with backgrounds in government regulation and environmental research.

· And yes—concerned parents and citizens who have read the documents, studied the zoning code, and showed up to protect their neighborhoods.

These are not uninformed opinions. These are local professionals and stakeholders offering thoughtful, fact-based testimony because they care about this community.

To suggest their input is invalid because they are not on PRF’s payroll or SK hynix’s press team is not just disheartening—it’s dismissive of the kind of civic engagement that West Lafayette claims to value.

We understand the mayor has a role to play in promoting development. But when people show up in good faith, with credentials and data, to express concern for the health and future of their families, they should be heard—not discredited.
