Dear Senator Ted Budd,

We, the Ukrainians of North Carolina, turn to you with a request for help. We rely on your Christian values and your commitment to family values which are the foundation of strong communities. Many of us are privileged to raise our families in safe homes, give our children a quality education and protect them from danger.

 Thousands of Ukrainian refugees who fled their homeland due to Russian aggression are now seeking the same security for their families. These families lost their homes, and many of them are relatives and loved ones. They came to North Carolina to save their lives and give their children a future full of safety and opportunity.

 In light of President Trump’s recent directive to suspend or terminate refugee programs, we as United States citizens are asking you to speak up in support of displaced Ukrainians with UHP and/or TPS immigration status and allow them to remain in the United States. Their contributions to our communities, economy, and culture strengthens our state and upholds the values that make America a symbol of hope and freedom.

 We ask you to stand on our side and help protect these people and their families. Your leadership can change their lives.
