Green pledge_ Plant one tree during your lifetime.

Green pledge_ Plant one tree during your lifetime.
The Issue
Objective: To inspire 1% of the World population to plant one tree.
Trees are a lovely creation of the Lord & an embodiment of unconditional love.
“Trees are my guru. They continue to give unconditionally even when you pelt them with stones to take their fruit & even if you cut them down. Trees give life. Let’s reciprocate that. Plant more trees.” – Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam
Trees are being recklessly cut down. Its effects are being are experienced all across the world today:-
- High temperatures due to global warming.
- Less rainfall & shortage of water. Famines.
- Loss of habitat for animals & birds.
- Floods, landslides, loss of fertile soil.
- Loss of food for human beings, animals & birds.
- Absence of beautiful green surroundings.
This ecological imbalance has taken lives of many human beings & animals. Also it is endangering the lives of future generations.
Just imagine a world without trees. It’s scary, right! So let’s act before it’s too late.
I urge each & every one of you to plant at least one tree & take care of it throughout your life. Our objective is to motivate 1% of the total population to take action. The effects can be huge.
Population of the world – 7.36 billion – 1% = 7.36 million trees
Population of India – 1.25 billion – 1% = 1.25 million trees (Census – 2013)
The numbers are equivalent to creating few forests.
“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” - Proverb
So let’s take a pledge to give the next generation a better place to live. I appeal to all of you to take the ‘Green Pledge’ & take action.
I also request the Corporate companies to plant trees equivalent to the number of employees as well as encourage their employees to take the pledge.
In future, we can make a petition to the government to make it compulsory for each family to plant at least one tree.
“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.” – Robert Swan
So friends let’s not wait for someone else to do it. Let us do it ourselves.
Please take a print out of this simple Green pledge & take action:
“I ___________, hereby pledge to plant one tree & take care of it throughout my lifetime.”
