PETITION TO REVIEW THE CLASS 9 CURRICULUM
A Request for a Balanced, Age-Appropriate and Meaningful Curriculum
To the Hon’ble Education Minister and the concerned education authorities,

We, the undersigned parents, students, educators and concerned citizens, request a comprehensive review of the Class 9 curriculum.

Our concern is not about reducing academic standards or making education easier.

Our concern is about ensuring that the volume, complexity and sequencing of the curriculum are appropriate for the age and developmental stage of students.

We request the authorities to:

Review the overall volume of the Class 9 syllabus.
Examine whether certain advanced concepts are being introduced earlier than necessary.
Review overlap between Class 9 content and topics traditionally taught in Classes 11 and 12.
Identify and reduce unnecessary repetition.
Prioritise conceptual understanding and application over excessive content.
Ensure students have sufficient time for sports, creativity, extracurricular activities, rest and personal development.
Consult parents, teachers and students when evaluating the impact of curriculum changes.
We believe that a strong education system should not simply ask children to cover more content. It should help them understand more deeply.

We respectfully request that the Class 9 curriculum be reviewed with the academic, developmental and overall wellbeing of students in mind.

We support high educational standards. We also support meaningful learning.
