The #FireBazucki movement on X highlights growing outrage over allegations that Roblox, under CEO David Baszucki’s leadership, is silencing users who expose predatory behavior while failing to adequately safeguard its 58% under-16 user base.

The Issue:
Roblox’s moderation system has banned accounts for actions purportedly violating Community Standards, including reporting predators or raising awareness—efforts mischaracterized as “simulated child endangerment” or “sharing PII.” A 2023 Bloomberg report documented 13,316 child exploitation cases on Roblox, yet the platform’s response includes legal threats against protectors rather than swift action against predators. This contradicts Roblox’s claims of partnerships with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement.

Potential Legal Violations by Roblox:
Roblox's practices may violate several U.S. laws related to child safety and online moderation, including:

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA): By allegedly failing to adequately protect children's privacy and allowing the covert harvesting of granular behavioral data (e.g., keystrokes, mouse movements, chat logs), Roblox could be in violation of COPPA, which requires parental consent for collecting data from children under 13 and mandates safeguards against exploitation.
Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA): Enacted in 2024, KOSA requires platforms to mitigate harms to minors, such as exposure to predatory behavior.
