We, the pet owner residents of Nyayo Estate, call upon the NSSF and Estate Management to reconsider and withdraw the rule banning pets within the Estate.

Pets are more than just animals—they are companions that bring immense emotional and mental health benefits, especially for families, the elderly, and individuals experiencing stress or isolation. The current ban on pets restricts the quality of life for many residents and does not reflect the inclusive and vibrant community we aspire to maintain.

While we understand concerns about safety, cleanliness, and harmony, a complete ban is not the solution. Instead, we propose implementing the following guidelines to ensure responsible pet ownership:

1. Mandatory Registration of Pets – Ensuring accountability among pet owners.

2. Vaccination and Health Records – Requiring proof of vaccination and routine veterinary care.

3. Behavioral Standards – Promoting training to avoid disturbances or safety risks.

4. Hygiene Practices – Enforcing proper waste management and cleanliness by pet owners.

These measures would allow residents to enjoy the companionship of pets while maintaining community order and addressing legitimate concerns.

We urge the NSSF and Nyayo Estate Management to engage with residents to create a balanced solution that respects the rights and needs of all. Together, we can build a harmonious environment for everyone.
