To: The Jewish Council of Australia

We, the undersigned members and allies of the Australian Jewish community, demand that the Jewish Council of Australia (JCA) rename itself to reflect its true stance and affiliations. Given its blatantly biased, anti-Israel rhetoric and its misuse of Jewish identity to legitimize harmful narratives, we call for the organization to be renamed:

The Council for Culturally Concerned Jews

The Jewish Council of Australia does not represent the Jewish community. Instead, it weaponizes Jewish identity to lend credibility to anti-Israel narratives that directly endanger Jewish Australians. The JCA’s positions are neither neutral nor balanced; they align almost identically with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), a US-based organization known for its extreme anti-Zionist stance and its history of providing cover for antisemitic movements.

Despite masquerading as a “moderate” voice, the JCA routinely echoes the rhetoric of far-left, anti-Israel movements that distort history, ignore Jewish historical ties to the land of Israel, and endanger the Jewish community by legitimizing those who wish to see it erased.

They provide antisemites with a ‘Jewish’ shield
The JCA’s statements and positions are frequently used by known antisemitic activists and organizations as proof that Jews themselves oppose Israel’s right to exist. Their cherry-picking of Jewish identity to align with anti-Israel propaganda is cynical, dangerous, and irresponsible.
They dismiss Jewish concerns while amplifying anti-Israel narratives
While Israel faces relentless attacks, terrorism, and existential threats, the JCA downplays Jewish suffering and instead centers Palestinian grievances at the cost of Jewish safety. They silence pro-Israel Jews while positioning themselves as the voice of “progressive” Jewry.

They spread misleading and harmful claims
The JCA’s messaging consistently mirrors anti-Israel organizations that falsely equate Israel’s self-defense with aggression and promote distorted historical narratives. Their reluctance to condemn antisemitism unless it aligns with their political agenda proves that their interest is not Jewish welfare but political activism.

If the Jewish Council of Australia wishes to continue operating as an organization dedicated to anti-Israel activism, they must do so under an accurate and transparent name - one that does not mislead the public or falsely claim to represent Jewish Australians.

We demand the immediate renaming of the Jewish Council of Australia to:

“The Council for Culturally Concerned Jews” or alike.

This name would truthfully reflect their agenda, biases, and political leanings, rather than misleading the public into believing they stand for Jewish safety, representation, or community interests.
