Petition to Remove the Final Exam in CP319 - Digital System Design

The Issue

We are third-year students enrolled in CP319 - Digital System Design, a course that has challenged us with three comprehensive projects alongside a midterm exam. These projects demand significant time, effort, and technical knowledge, reflecting the advanced skill set required for success in digital system design.

As a class, we are dedicated to meeting the expectations of this course and value the hands-on learning that comes with project-based assessments. However, the addition of a final exam, on top of the existing workload, creates a level of pressure and complexity that feels disproportionate compared to other third-year CP courses. Most of these courses balance academic rigor with realistic workloads by having either a midterm or a final, particularly when multiple large projects are included in the curriculum.

This petition reflects the collective voice of students who believe in maintaining high standards while also ensuring fair and reasonable expectations. Our goal is to advocate for a course structure that allows us to focus on mastering key concepts through project-based learning without the added strain of a final exam, which may undermine the depth of understanding we are striving to achieve.
