Petition to Remove Misty Dawn: Graphic Mannequin and Controversial Post Spark Outrage
The Issue
Dear Homer City School Board and Superintendent,
As a Homer City native whose father served as a school board member, I’ve returned to the area after years away and remain deeply connected through family, some with children in our schools. The ideology of hate—evident in a board member’s action based on publicly available information —has no place in our community. A school board member shaping our children’s education, who will become our future neighbors, must not promote division or violence. I am deeply troubled by recent alleged actions from Board Member Misty Dawn Hunt that seem to glorify violence and erode the safe, respectful environment our children deserve. On September 10, 2025, following the tragic shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at a Utah event, Ms. Dawn allegedly posted content celebrating the killing—actions that have no place for an elected official shaping our kids' education.Compounding this, her previous front lawn displays featured a bloodied, nearly decapitated mannequin resembling President Trump, presented as "Halloween decor." This graphic imagery promotes harm in a community already divided, especially when school board members are role models for impressionable students. Such alleged behavior violates Pennsylvania School Code standards for professionalism and impartiality, potentially breaching ethics policies that require board members to act with integrity and avoid actions that "bring discredit" to the district. Our schools should foster unity, safety, and learning—not division or tolerance for violence. Parents, teachers, and residents were, and are rightly outraged, as seen in local discussions on the Homer City Crime Page. Ms. Dawn's alleged conduct risks alienating families, distracting from education priorities, and modeling dangerous rhetoric to our youth, including my own relatives in the district. We, the undersigned, call on the Homer City School Board to immediately:Launch an ethics investigation into these incidents.
Hold a special meeting to vote on Ms. Dawn's removal from her position if these allegations are proven true.
Adopt clearer social media guidelines for board members to prevent future lapses.
Sign this petition if you believe school leaders must uphold the highest standards of civility and responsibility. Together, let's protect our community's future—share with neighbors, fellow parents, and anyone who values safe schools. For more details, see attached screenshots.
If you agree this lady should be fully investigated and if found to have committed these acts, Please sign and share this petition. This behavior and ideology (if found to be true) has no place in our community. Homer Center School Board should not have any member sitting on the board promoting this ideology of hate while overseeing the policy and educational decisions that will shape the thoughts and minds of our youth.
Please sign and share. The future of our youth and that of our country demands it be stopped. Thank you
Thank you for standing with Homer City families.
