FEDERAL AGENTS ARE ACCESSING LOCAL FLOCK DATA, EVEN WHERE IT'S BANNED

New reporting this year shows the risk we've been warning about isn't hypothetical anymore. In Woodburn, Oregon, a sanctuary city with a law explicitly banning immigration enforcement use, a city audit found Border Patrol and Homeland Security had been searching the local Flock network anyway, through a feature called "National Lookup" that officials say they never knowingly turned on. All 23 cameras came down within weeks. In Dayton, Ohio, officials discovered their camera data had been pulled for immigration-related searches thousands of times. Their response: they suspended the program and literally covered the cameras with trash bags while they figured out what happened. Flock says publicly that it doesn't share data with ICE directly, and that "communities control federal data access." But once local plate scans land in Flock's cloud, cities have repeatedly found they can't actually answer who else can search them: front door, back door, or through reciprocal sharing agreements with other agencies in the network. This is exactly why our petition asks Dare County leaders for a full, public accounting of who has access to our data before any camera stays online another day. Not a promise.
