Petition to REMOVE Corpus Christi Mayor Paulette Guajardo

Petition to REMOVE Corpus Christi Mayor Paulette Guajardo
The Issue
A petition to REMOVE the Corpus Christi City Mayor was filed on August 29th, 2025.
This petition was filed due to the findings of a current lawsuit between the City of Corpus Christi and Ajit David.
Depositions of this lawsuit have been made public information.
After reviewing the initial depositions of the city manager, city staff, some city council members and others affiliated with the case, it is very clear that the Mayor had full knowledge and was aware of the forging/modifying/altering of federal documents.
Even having this knowledge, the Mayor proceeded to approve the project, awarding two of her campaign contributors with a $2 MILLION taxpayer incentive.
The Mayor has not only broken the law by knowingly accepting tampered federal documents but has also violated the code of ethics required of her as an elected official.
On Tuesday, September 9th, the Corpus Christi City Council voted 4/1 (4 abstaining; Mayor Paulette Guajardo, Councilman Roland Barrera, Councilman Everett Roy and Councilwoman Carolyn Vaughn) to refer the lawsuit to outside counsel.
This misconduct should NO LONGER be accepted by the citizens of Corpus Christi. We CANNOT continue to accept illegal and unethical behavior from our elected officials. This is one of the many reasons why our community cannot move forward.
Per the City Charter of Corpus Christi; Article II "City Council"; Section 11 "Removal" (a) "A council member shall be subject to removal by the council or by any other means authorized by law for”.
(1) "Willful violation of any code of ethics or conflicts of interest provision under state or federal law or city ordinance. "
(2) “Willful violation of any express prohibition of this charter."
(3) “Misconduct, malfeasance, incompetence, inability or willful neglect in performance of official duties."
