Her repeated refusal to make basic, reasonable arguments in court, coupled with her tendency to excuse her inaction by claiming that “judges don’t want to hear women are not the victims,” demonstrates a lack of advocacy and commitment to her clients. As a result, individuals have endured years in jail over minor incidents, such as a tweet, due to her failure to provide an adequate defense. Furthermore, Ms. Pray has misrepresented clients’ rights regarding Marsden and Faretta motions, further eroding trust in her competence and integrity. Such a level of incompetence and dishonesty should not be tolerated in our justice system. We urge the Public Defender’s Office to uphold the standards of legal representation and restore faith in public defense by removing Alexandra Pray from her role.
