The Issue

To the Jacksonville North Pulaski School Board: We, the teachers, parents, and community members of Bayou Meto Elementary, respectfully request a transparent review of the decision requiring Principal Lindsey Jones to resign at the end of this school year. During the school board meeting held on December 11, parents of students involved in the October incident reported that the lack of communication from the school board was unacceptable and Principal Jones herself publicly clarified that her resignation is not related to the October situation. This aligns with the superintendent’s statement to staff confirming that the October incident was not the reason for the resignation request. Principal Jones fulfilled her obligations as a mandated reporter and followed the district’s directives and communication expectations. Despite this, recent communication and media coverage have left the community with a different impression, unintentionally associating her with decisions that were not hers. This has contributed to confusion, concern, and misunderstanding throughout our school community. The situation has caused significant disruption for students, staff, and families. Students have experienced uncertainty and a sudden change in leadership. Teachers and staff have been placed under increased stress due to a lack of clear communication. Parents have repeatedly expressed frustration with the absence of transparency, while Principal Jones has faced unnecessary reputational harm despite the facts being publicly clarified. Our school community values honesty, stability, and clear communication, and we believe it is essential that accurate information is shared so the situation can be understood fairly. We respectfully ask the School Board to publicly clarify that the October incident was not the reason for Principal Jones’ resignation, consistent with statements made by the superintendent, parents, and Principal Jones herself. We also request transparent communication regarding the reasoning behind this decision so the community is not left with misconceptions. Additionally, we ask that the Board conduct a fair and balanced review of the circumstances surrounding her removal and consider reinstating Principal Lindsey Jones, or pausing further action until such a review is completed. We stand together in support of Principal Jones because she has demonstrated strong and compassionate leadership, dedication to student and staff well-being, professionalism and integrity, and a positive influence on school climate and culture. This petition is not intended to assign blame; rather, it reflects our shared desire for transparency, fairness, and stability within our school community. We believe these values are essential to the success of our students, the well-being of our staff, and the trust of our families.
