The Issue

We are respectfully petitioning the University of Arkansas to reinstate the men’s and women’s varsity tennis programs.

For decades, Razorback tennis represented excellence both on and off the court. These programs developed student‑athletes who embodied discipline, integrity, leadership, and pride in representing the University of Arkansas. Their discontinuation has created a significant gap in opportunity for current and future students, as well as a loss to the broader Razorback and Arkansas tennis community.

Reinstating these programs is about more than competition. It is about preserving opportunity, tradition, and the educational mission of collegiate athletics. College sports were never meant to be solely driven by revenue. They exist to support student development, access to higher education, personal growth, and leadership formation. Non‑revenue sports like tennis continue to provide meaningful pathways for students to succeed academically, athletically, and professionally.

We are actively working to demonstrate strong community engagement and financial support as we respectfully request reinstatement. The response from alumni, donors, families, and tennis supporters reinforces that these programs have both the backing and sustainability necessary to return.

We urge University leadership to consider reinstating men’s and women’s tennis as a reflection of the University’s commitment to student‑athletes, to competitive excellence, and to the values that have long defined Razorback athletics.

With unified community and financial support, we believe a compelling and responsible path forward exists—one that restores opportunity and strengthens the University of Arkansas.
