PETITION TO REINSTATE MATT MICCICHE AS HEAD OF LANCASTER COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL

The Issue

We, the undersigned members of the Lancaster Country Day School (LCDS) community, feel compelled to raise our voices in support of a leader who has consistently demonstrated unwavering dedication, integrity, and care for our school. We are frustrated and deeply saddened by the unjust and misguided removal of Matt Micciche as Head of School and believe this decision has caused significant harm to our community’s well-being and stability and to Matt and his family.
From the first day Matt joined LCDS, his goal was to unite, uplift and strengthen our community. He provided vision, support, and transparency while working tirelessly to foster a culture rooted in belonging, respect, integrity, and kindness, all while embracing the importance of joy, fun, and laughter. His focus has always been not simply on academic excellence, but on nurturing the holistic development of every member of our school community. Through his leadership and personal example, he created a space where students, faculty, and parents felt valued, supported, and empowered to grow, both academically and personally. His impact is further exemplified by his work on the school’s Strategic Plan, which prioritized community engagement and carefully considered the diverse needs and aspirations of all stakeholders. He excelled in gathering input and making thoughtful, well-informed decisions that aligned with the collective values of our community. The remarkable progress he has made has now come to an abrupt halt, leaving a profound impact on every member of our community and threatening the future strength and stability of our school.
As a community, it is crucial that we come together to address the unchecked accessibility of technology, which has made it far too easy for harm to be inflicted. We believe that Matt is the right leader to guide us through these challenging times and help us navigate this complex issue. At the same time, we must stand united in defense of those who have been wrongfully targeted. We fully acknowledge the trauma experienced by the victims of the AI-generated photos and offer our unwavering support for their healing journey. We are committed to ensuring that the LCDS community plays an active role in this process, with Matt leading us toward a path of understanding, healing, and resolution.
Furthermore, a thorough and comprehensive investigation conducted by the District Attorney has cleared Matt and the school officials of any wrongdoing. In light of this, we respectfully request the immediate dismissal of the lawsuit against the school and its officials. Continuing this legal action serves no purpose other than to inflict further emotional and financial harm on our community, hindering our ability to move forward and heal as a unified school.
Lancaster Country Day School, with its distinguished 116-year history, deserves a leader of excellence—one who has shown exceptional dedication to the school’s mission and values. Matt Micciche poured his heart and soul into LCDS, and in his short time with us, proved himself to be a capable and compassionate leader. His commitment to fostering a culture of trust, support, and understanding was evident throughout his tenure, and under his leadership, we have flourished. We firmly believe that Matt’s return is essential to restore the trust, stability, and unity our school so desperately needs.
We urge others to join us in speaking up on Matt's behalf. We ask that supporters of LCDS—students, teachers, staff, parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends—take a moment to sign this petition to reinstate Matt Micciche as Head of Lancaster Country Day School. If we come together with a united, strong voice, we can reverse the wrongful termination of this well-respected and beloved leader.
Please note, Matt is unaware of this petition created on his behalf.
