Petition to Reevaluate the Implementation of the ACE Program for the 2025-2026 and Future Academic Years

To: Administration of Juan Seguin Elementary, La Joya ISD, and Members of the School Board

We, the undersigned parents, students, alumni, and members of the Juan Seguin Elementary community, strongly oppose the recommendation to restart our school under the LJISD Systems of Great Schools: Restart Proposal, known as Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE). We believe this change would bring significant negative consequences to our students and the broader community. We respectfully urge the board to vote against this proposal and instead explore alternative approaches that equip students with the tools they need to succeed while preserving the current staff and culture of our school.

Our primary concern is the well-being of our students. Over the years, the dedicated staff of Juan Seguin Elementary have become invaluable to our school community. They contribute not only to academic achievement but also to the emotional, social, and overall development of our students. Their unwavering commitment has fostered a stable and nurturing environment where children thrive.

The continuity of our staff has allowed students to build trusting relationships with teachers, counselors, administrators, and other personnel—connections that are essential to their academic and emotional growth. Maintaining the current staff ensures consistency in teaching methods, curriculum delivery, and classroom management practices.

Our staff’s deep understanding of the unique culture and needs of the Juan Seguin Elementary community is a testament to their dedication. They have consistently upheld the high standards of our school through innovative approaches that align with the district’s mission and values.

As a community, we are deeply concerned about the current teacher-to-student ratio, which is already high. Adding more students would exacerbate existing challenges and overburden our teachers and staff. Additionally, increasing instructional time does not necessarily guarantee improved learning outcomes and could deprive children of essential rest and recreation, which are critical for their overall well-being and academic success.

It is vital to remember that our students are not mere statistics; they are unique individuals with distinct needs. Implementing these changes would impose unnecessary challenges on them, potentially impacting their psychological and academic growth. Our focus should remain on supporting and nurturing each child’s unique strengths and potential.

We respectfully request that you consider our concerns and vote against the proposed ACE program. Let us work together to develop strategies that address the needs of our students and community while continuing to build on the strong foundation already established at Juan Seguin Elementary.

Nosotros, los abajo firmantes, padres, estudiantes, exalumnos y miembros de la comunidad de la Primaria Juan Seguin, expresamos nuestra firme oposición a la recomendación de reiniciar nuestra escuela bajo la propuesta del Sistema de Escuelas de Excelencia de LJISD, conocida como “Accelerating Campus Excellence” (ACE). Creemos que este cambio traería consecuencias significativas y negativas para nuestros estudiantes y la comunidad en general. Respetuosamente instamos a la Junta a votar en contra de esta propuesta y, en su lugar, explorar enfoques alternativos que brinden a los estudiantes las herramientas necesarias para tener éxito, preservando al mismo tiempo al personal y la cultura actual de nuestra escuela.

Nuestra principal preocupación es el bienestar de nuestros estudiantes. A lo largo de los años, el dedicado personal de la Primaria Juan Seguin se ha convertido en un pilar invaluable de nuestra comunidad escolar. Han contribuido no solo al éxito académico, sino también al desarrollo emocional, social y general de nuestros estudiantes. Su compromiso inquebrantable ha fomentado un ambiente estable y enriquecedor donde los niños prosperan.

La continuidad de nuestro personal ha permitido a los estudiantes formar relaciones de confianza con maestros, consejeros, administradores y otros miembros del personal. Estas conexiones son esenciales para su crecimiento académico y emocional. Mantener al personal actual asegura consistencia en los métodos de enseñanza, la entrega del currículo y las prácticas de manejo en el aula.

El profundo entendimiento que tiene nuestro personal de la cultura única y las necesidades de la comunidad de la Primaria Juan Seguin refleja su dedicación. Han mantenido altos estándares a través de enfoques innovadores que están alineados con la misión y los valores del distrito.

Como comunidad, estamos profundamente preocupados por la alta proporción actual de estudiantes por maestro, que ya es motivo de inquietud. Agregar más estudiantes agravaría los desafíos existentes y sobrecargaría a nuestros maestros y personal. Además, aumentar el tiempo de instrucción no garantiza necesariamente mejores resultados de aprendizaje y podría privar a los niños del descanso y la recreación esenciales para su bienestar general y éxito académico.

Es fundamental recordar que nuestros estudiantes no son meras estadísticas; son individuos únicos con necesidades específicas. Implementar estos cambios impondría desafíos innecesarios que podrían afectar su crecimiento psicológico y académico. Nuestro enfoque debe permanecer en apoyar y nutrir las fortalezas y el potencial de cada niño.

Respetuosamente solicitamos que consideren nuestras preocupaciones y voten en contra de la propuesta del programa ACE. Trabajemos juntos para desarrollar estrategias que aborden las necesidades de nuestros estudiantes y la comunidad, mientras continuamos construyendo sobre los sólidos cimientos ya establecidos en la Primaria Juan Seguin.
