Petition to Reconsider the 2026–2027 School Bus Subscription Fee Increase

To the School Administration and Board of Education:

We, the undersigned parents and guardians, respectfully request that the school district reconsider the significant increase in the annual school bus subscription fee for the 2026–2027 school year.

The transportation fee has increased from $625 to $920 per student, representing an increase of nearly 47% in just one year. This substantial increase places an unexpected financial burden on many families, especially those with multiple children who rely on school transportation.

We understand that operating costs may have increased; however, a price increase of this magnitude is difficult for many families to absorb. Reliable school transportation is an essential service, and such a steep increase may force some families to make difficult financial decisions or seek alternative transportation arrangements that may not be practical or safe.

We respectfully request that the district:
 • Reevaluate the proposed transportation fee increase.
 • Consider implementing a smaller, more gradual increase over multiple years.
 • Explore cost-saving measures or alternative funding sources to help reduce the financial impact on families.
 • Consider offering discounts or financial assistance for families with multiple children using bus transportation.

We value the transportation services provided by the district and appreciate the efforts made to ensure students travel safely. Our request is simply that the increase be reconsidered in light of the financial challenges many families face.
