The issue

To: The Honorable Members of Parliament, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), and the Medical Board of Australia
From: Concerned Citizens, Patients, Advocates, and Healthcare Professionals

We, the undersigned, petition to immediately stop the unfair targeting and disciplinary actions against Australian doctors legally prescribing medical cannabis.

In recent cases, compassionate prescribing doctors have been:

Judged based on other GPs’ past decisions — not their own
Investigated for prescribing cannabis despite full TGA approval
Treated with more hostility than criminals for following a legal medical pathway
This petition stands for:

✅ DOCTOR PROTECTION — Doctors must be free to prescribe TGA-approved cannabis without fear of career-ending investigations or stigma.

✅ PATIENT SAFETY & RIGHTS — Patients deserve access to cannabis as medicine, free from outdated prejudice or interference.

✅ EVIDENCE OVER STIGMA — Medical cannabis is supported by peer-reviewed studies, patient testimonies, and international research. It is a Schedule 8 substance — not a crime.

✅ TGA TRANSPARENCY & REFORM — The TGA approval process needs clarification and consistency, especially where multiple prescriptions or past medication records are involved.

✅ NO BACKWARD BLAME — A doctor should not be penalised because a patient was previously prescribed psychiatric or opioid medication. The entire purpose of medical cannabis is to provide an alternative. Punishing doctors based on historical records creates fear, not healing.

WHY THIS MATTERS:

This issue goes beyond one doctor. It’s about protecting the future of integrative healthcare in Australia. Right now:

Doctors are treated like criminals for choosing a plant-based, patient-approved pathway
Patients are left traumatised, vulnerable, and without care
A legal medicine remains clouded by outdated stigma and patchy law
We, the undersigned, ask that:

All current investigations into cannabis-prescribing doctors be paused and independently reviewed.
The TGA, AHPRA, and Medical Board develop cannabis-specific protocols to protect prescribers.
Past psychiatric or opioid prescriptions not automatically prejudice patient access to medical cannabis.
Australia lead in patient-first, trauma-informed cannabis regulation.

We call for compassion, science, and justice. Protect doctors. Empower patients. Reform the system.
