Petition to petition the petition about the Enfield Town Library mural

The Issue

Some local NIMBY's have taken it upon themselves to create and sign a petition that suggest that a new mural adorning the side of Enfield Town library detracts from the areas 'historic' roots, and they want it removed.

It's absolute insanity that at the current time of writing this, 159 people (including myself, only so I could counter comment on the petition to argue how ridiculous it is they are petitioning to remove a mural) have signed such a sanctimonious thing.

Enfield has and will continue to have, a diverse mix of people, businesses and architecture, and to infer that the original Edwardian library... that had a modern remodel in 2009.. has now compromised the historic and aesthetic integrity of the area through the medium of an intentionally designed, well executed and colourful mural, is laughable.

The focus should be that Enfield libraries are under threat, seven were sold off this past year saving the council £630,000 a year in costs and a potential £3,250,000 in the sale of the properties.

This petition to remove their petition is a ploy to make you reevaluate and turn you attention to more important things in upholding community in Enfield. Our public, housing, educational and adult social care services, the fact that the only sexual health clinic serving the entire borough of Enfield was on the brink of closure by local authorities... the sale of Whitewebbs green area being encroached on by Tottenham Hotspur!!!

Engage yourselves in something more important than a lick of paint on a building - especially as the mural looks fantastic in person.

Good day!
