PETITION TO OUTLAW AIPAC AND RESTORE INTEGRITY TO U.S. FOREIGN POLICY
The Issue
To: The United States Congress, The Department of Justice, The Federal Election Commission (FEC)
Why this is important:
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is an immensely powerful pro-Israel lobbying organization that exerts disproportionate and often detrimental influence over U.S. foreign policy, particularly concerning the Middle East. Its operations, including significant campaign spending and lobbying efforts, threaten the principles of a government "of the people, by the people, for the people," by prioritizing the interests of a foreign government and its allied lobby over the interests and values of American citizens.
This petition calls for immediate legislative and regulatory action to effectively "Outlaw AIPAC" and any similar organization that functions as an unregistered agent of a foreign power, or whose primary purpose is the massive, targeted manipulation of U.S. political campaigns on behalf of a foreign agenda.
We demand that the U.S. Government take the following actions:
Mandate FARA Registration: The Department of Justice must immediately investigate and compel AIPAC and its related entities (including its Political Action Committee, AIPAC PAC, and the American Israel Education Foundation) to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). AIPAC's historical evolution, its direct alignment with Israeli government policies, and its extensive activities to influence U.S. officials and public opinion on behalf of a foreign state meet the clear criteria for FARA registration, which requires transparency regarding foreign principals, funding, and activities.
Enact a Ban on Foreign-Agenda-Driven Super PACs and Campaign Spending: Congress must pass legislation to prohibit political committees and lobbying groups from engaging in coordinated or independent expenditures in U.S. elections when those expenditures are overwhelmingly dedicated to promoting the policy agenda of a foreign government. AIPAC's extensive and targeted campaign spending against candidates who do not align with its foreign policy agenda constitutes a dangerous level of foreign-aligned interference in our democratic process.
Investigate and Restrict Tax-Exempt Status Abuse: Relevant federal agencies must investigate and, where appropriate, revoke the tax-exempt status of organizations that use their non-profit status to fund lobbying and political activities primarily focused on advancing the policy goals of a foreign country, thereby preventing the use of charitable donations as a shield for political manipulation.
The unchecked influence of AIPAC is a clear and present danger to American democracy:
It distorts U.S. foreign policy, often locking the United States into positions that conflict with international law, human rights, and the long-term security interests of the American people.
It silences dissenting voices in Congress through massive, targeted campaign funding against candidates who dare to prioritize an independent American foreign policy.
It operates with a lack of transparency that would be unacceptable if the organization were openly lobbying for any other foreign nation, creating a double standard that undermines the integrity of our political system.
