                        Petition To Nullify and Void the Notice of Denial

SUBJECT:         Petition to Nullify and Void the Notice of Denial

We, the undersigned Triskelion of Lopez, Quezon Chapter, are opposed to the circulating Notice of Denial from the officials of Triskelion Municipal Council of Lopez (TMCL) dated 30th of June 2022. This notice intends to invalidate the legitimacy of Sis. NYRISSA- ANNE BARROS-UMALI a.k.a Nyri-anne as a member of our fraternity and sorority, insinuating her as “Colorum” or "Expelled".

A.         We, the petitioners therefore respectfully request to oppose this due to substantial and relevant reasons as follows:

1.         As Tau Gamma Sigma, being separated and having our own identity from Tau Gamma Phi, TMCL has no right to invalidate the legitimacy of a Tau Gamma Sigma by issuing a notice of denial to the public. We firmly believe that serving the sanction for expulsion is a right and power duly vested upon the majority only of our sorority root chapter after an intelligent investigation, due process, and fair trial. 

            1.1              That being “expelled” is different from being “denied”. 

            1.2              That being denied does not imply that she is expelled from our Grand Fraternity/Sorority. 

            1.3              That even if the officials of TMCL deny the legitimacy of Sis. Nyri-anne, we should prevent them from treating and spreading information that she has been tagged as “Colorum” or as “Expelled”. 

            1.4              That if by any chance, the case will not be settled within the root chapter, that’s the time we must escalate the issue to Tau Gamma Sigma Quezon Provincial Council up to the National level if necessary.

2.         There is no due process done to validate their accusation to the involved party. 

            2.1              Sis. Nyri-anne tried to reach out to TMCL contrary to the statement stated in their denial notice to comply with their requirements and to present all her pieces of evidence and supporting documents to prove her legitimacy, but she was ignored and deprived of her rights for the benefit of the doubt and presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

            2.2              TMCL maliciously represented and character assassinated sis. Nyri-anne as they continue to influence our fellow brothers and sisters resulting in collusion and factions among our chapter.

3.         Sis. Nyri-anne did undergo, complete, and survive her final rites on the 7th of May 1982, in a secluded area at Barangay Del Pilar, Lopez, Quezon as a solo hotel batch. 

            3.1              Sis. Nyri-anne’s final rites were led by the master initiator at that time, Brother Dioscoro Orcelada (deceased) under the supervision of Brother Emmanuel Cantara Caballas, DGT. It was also attended by the late Brother Rodel Verdera, Founding Father of Lopez, Quezon Chapter. There were also two lady masters present. It was clearly identified by Sis. Nyri-anne that one of them was Sis. Edelmira Erandio Barrameda a.k.a  Zenzen  while she was not sure about who was the other one. 

            3.2              That this issue on her legitimacy arised when Sis. Nyri-anne was asked to submit a Certificate of Legitimacy (COL) by Tau Gamma Sigma National Level. One of the officials of Tau Gamma Sigma National said that even a single signature on the COL would suffice her legitimacy as a Triskelion. She listed on that COL the names of the members who know and recognize her existence since then. This COL has eventually been acknowledged and signed by the members listed on it without any force. She has no intention of using this COL for any political agenda as what they accuse her of.

            3.3              Sis. Nyri-anne shared this copy of COL to TMCL and to the public when they started questioning her legitimacy. She explained that this COL was signed by specific members who were present during her final rites and who she thought knew her information about being a neophyte during their era. Most of them said that they had already forgotten the actual event, but they did not deny her as a legitimate member. Members who had passed away were of course not included in the COL. Among them were our late brother Rodel Verdera - one of the three founding fathers of Lopez, Quezon Chapter, Brod Dioscoro Orcelada-former M.I. and Sis. Marife Aguire Merjudio.

            3.4              Sis. Nyri-anne was given a Certificate of Recognition dated 24th of January 2006 duly signed by our three chapter founding fathers namely Brod Eduardson Umali, Brod, John John Villanera and Brod Rodel Verdera (deceased). This was also signed by Brod Arkie Manuel Yulde who was the Municipal Chairman of our chapter at that time. This is just one of her many supporting original hard copy documents. All these were presented to our members and officers of TMCL but their officials rejected all of them. More so, they created negative speculations out of these documents. All the logical reasoning and vital information were also disregarded by these accusers making them biased, unjust, and unscrupulous in overseeing this case.

4.         The clear motive of the TMCL officials is to expel Sis. Nyri-anne whatever happens or whatever reasons there may be. There is no manifestation of fixing the issue since most of them hold grudges against her. 

           4.1               In most cases, current officials of TMCL have kept on intervening with the significant affairs of Tau Gamma Sigma which is a manifestation of disrespect for our orientation, decisions, and discretions. 

           4.2               The incumbent newly elected Grand Lady Triskelion, Sis. Veronica Gey Armamento signed the notice of denial without consent and careful deliberation with the majority of Tau Gamma Sigma. She was discreetly having meetings with the officials of TMCL. The GLT misrepresented the majority of Sigma in our chapter. The GLT violated Capital I of our Codes and Tenets. “Inform and orient your fellow brothers and sisters.”  Sis. Nyri-anne was not even given the right to due process and the right to be given the benefit of the doubt. It was the GLT’s sole decision to sign the denial notice making it clear that her actions do not represent the majority of the Tau Gamma Sigma Lopez Chapter. Sis Nyri-anne tried to contact sis. Veronica Gey prior to the issuance of the notice of denial as she acknowledged her as our GLT but she was said to be unreachable and unavailable always and just gave excuses.

B.         As such, we, the petitioners also respectfully request you to recommend: 

• Immediate declaration that Sis. Nyri-anne Barros-Umali is a legitimate Triskelion to nullify and void the notice of denial after your deliberate evaluation and review of all the presented evidence and rational and logical reasoning on this case.
• Immediate discontinuance of all related processes relative to this notice of denial and any other attempt to question, ridicule, or dishonor the legitimacy of being a Triskelion of Sis. Nyri-anne.  
• Immediate issuance of affirmation letter, declaration letter, or whatever proper form of documentation to convey the result of your evaluation of her case to help and support us to put an end to this defamation and bullying of our fellow sister who has served our fraternity and sorority for almost 40 years without any self-reservation. 
• Immediate acknowledgment of the Certificate of Legitimacy of Sis. Nyri-anne Barros-Umali.
