Petition to not destroy Hayes bike jumps

The Issue

Please Don’t destroy Hayes jumps.

Complaints
The council have received complaints from dog walkers around Hayes Common and the people that live on Redgate drive, about kids building jumps in the woods.

Most people are fine with it                         First of all we would like to say that most people are fine with us just having fun and being outside, being kids.

We’re just trying to have fun                         The complaints have been coming from a few local residents and dog walkers, that walk through those woods, and think we’re trying to hurt the environment, whereas we’re just building jumps, made from dirt, and having fun riding our bikes.

It is not dangerous                                             It isn’t a danger to the public, as there is still plenty of walking space around and away from our jumps. We only use a small section of the woods, we’re not hurting anyone but if people come to ride the jumps here at hayes and get hurt then that’s their responsibility.

We will not litter                                                                 With the litter issue we used to have bin bags dotted around hanging on trees that we put our rubbish in but they got taken. However if our jumps that we have taken our time and effort to build don’t get destroyed then we will definitely put more effort in to not litter and we will put more bin bags around the place.

People walking around/ dog walkers                             Another thing that the council said to us is that people walking around have been complaining about bikers are in there way when walking around Hayes common But In reality, rarely anyone walks where our jumps are and where we ride our bikes everyone that walks around Hayes common most of the time they will walk along the top on the designated footpaths, however, if they do come down to the jumps, we always get out the way and wait for them to pass. And Some people have even encouraged us and complimented our hard work.

Please don’t destroy them                       Everyone complains on kids being indoors and on screens, but building jumps and riding bikes is what gets us outdoors and is all that brings us fun if you don’t want to take that away from us then please don’t destroy our jumps that we have built over the years, We have put our time and effort into building them and we would really appreciate if you would accept leaving them.

We promise to be respectful.                                 We will not litter and will respect the environment and our surroundings and the homes and people that live there.

Thank you.
