Petition to Move NBA Finals Game 7 to a Neutral Court

The Issue

Dear NBA Leadership,

We, the undersigned fans and supporters of the NBA, respectfully submit this petition requesting a reconsideration of the current structure for Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Our Concern
Game 7 is often the most crucial and emotionally charged game of the entire NBA season. It represents the final opportunity for both teams to claim the championship title after months of intense competition. However, when Game 7 is played on one team's home court — as is the current standard — it introduces an unfair advantage due to several factors:

Home court familiarity and comfort
Larger support base (typically over 90% of the crowd)
Elevated energy and morale for the home team
This heavily skews the competitive balance in favor of the home team, and diminishes the spirit of fairness that defines championship-level sports.

Our Proposal
We respectfully propose that if the NBA Finals reach Game 7, it should be played on a neutral court, selected in advance by the league. This neutral location would:

Remove home court advantage.
Allow both teams to compete on truly equal footing.
Ensure fairer crowd representation — with 50% of the tickets allocated to each team’s fan base.
This format would help preserve the integrity of the game, elevate the prestige of Game 7, and give fans from both sides a more equal chance to experience the defining moment of the season.

Conclusion
The NBA has always stood for innovation, fairness, and the highest standard of competition. Moving Game 7 to a neutral site would reflect those values and give the Finals the level playing field it deserves.

We appreciate your time and attention to this matter and hope it will be given thoughtful consideration.

Respectfully,
Denis Disi
