The Issue

To Columbus City Schools Administration and District Leadership,

We, the students, staff, and supporters of Centennial High School, respectfully ask the district to keep Mr. Usman as a building substitute at Centennial for the upcoming school year.

Mr. Usman has become an important part of our school community. Every day, he brings positivity, consistency, and support to students and staff throughout the building. He is more than just a substitute teacher. He is someone students trust, respect, and genuinely enjoy seeing at school.

Many students know Mr. Usman for his kindness, patience, and willingness to help anyone who needs it. He creates a welcoming environment, treats students fairly, and helps make Centennial a better place. In a school environment where strong relationships and positive role models matter, Mr. Usman has made a real impact.

Students are also more likely to stay focused and stay on top of their work when there is a familiar face in the classroom instead of a random substitute who does not know the students or the school environment. Mr. Usman has built relationships throughout Centennial, which helps students feel more comfortable, respected, and motivated during the school day.

In addition to substitute teaching, Mr. Usman fills many important roles throughout the school, including helping at the main entrance and supporting staff wherever he is needed. He consistently helps keep the school running smoothly and is always willing to step in and assist students and staff.

Teachers and staff benefit from having someone dependable and familiar in the building. Removing him would negatively affect the culture and morale of our school community.

We understand that staffing decisions can be difficult, but we strongly believe that keeping dedicated individuals like Mr. Usman should be a priority. Centennial deserves staff members who care deeply about students and contribute positively to the school environment, and Mr. Usman consistently does exactly that.

We respectfully ask the district to reconsider any decision that would remove Mr. Usman from Centennial High School and allow him to continue serving the students, staff, and supporters who value and appreciate him.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

The Students, Staff, and Supporters of Centennial High School
