Petition updatePetition to initiate RECALL of SEA President Ibijoke Idowu-Holiday

UPDATE — IT’S TIME FOR MEMBERS TO MAKE SOME NOISE - WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE RECALL?

SEA MembersSeattle, WA, United States

More than 950 people have now signed this petition, and rank-and-file SEA members and elected representatives are continuing to ask a very basic question:

What is happening with the recall?

This weekend, a member shared a powerful message with colleagues explaining why they intend to keep raising the recall at Representative Assembly meetings.

We believe in our union. We believe members have a voice. And we believe union democracy requires leadership to answer its members—even when the questions are uncomfortable.

So now we are asking SEA members to make some noise.

Contact your elected representatives. Ask SEA officers for a written update on the recall process. Ask your AR to raise the issue at Representative Assembly. Members should be asking SEA leadership what specific process and timeline it is following to verify the recall petition, when members can expect the recall vote required by the bylaws, who is currently responsible for administering that process, and why repeated member requests for clear procedural updates have gone unanswered. Contact WEA and ask what protections and assistance are available to members seeking enforcement of their union's democratic processes.

And most importantly: keep talking to one another.

More than 959 signatures cannot simply disappear into silence.

If you have not signed, please sign. If you already signed, share the petition with your colleagues and complete the SEA membership/signature attestation.

Union democracy belongs to the membership. Let’s use it.
