Petition to Include Girls Longboarding in NSSA State and National Competitions
The Issue
We call on the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) to include Girls Longboarding as a recognized division at NSSA State and National Championships.
Girls longboarding is a vital part of scholastic surfing. Female athletes across NSSA regions actively train, compete, and excel in this discipline, yet they are not consistently given the opportunity to advance to state-level competition. This lack of inclusion limits representation, discourages participation, and creates inequity between boys’ and girls’ competitive opportunities.
Including Girls Longboarding at the state level would promote gender equity, support athlete development, and align with the NSSA’s mission of fair and inclusive competition. Girls longboarders deserve the same recognition, visibility, and pathways as their peers.
We urge the NSSA to formally recognize and include Girls Longboarding in all NSSA State and National Competitions.
