PETITION TO IMPROVE PROGRAMS AND COURSES WEBPAGE AT THE ANU

The issue

I am one of the hundreds of ANU Students who have been let down by the Australian National University’s Programs and Courses webpage. I started my postgraduate degree expecting internships and wonderful course options. After I arrived, I discovered that five of said postgraduate degrees have been postponed or cancelled, but the website still states that are running in their particular semester or term. I am a class representative, and I attended the CASS Class Representative Meeting, and there was at least half an hour worth of questions about this topic. They answered with, “Oh, we feel so sorry for you. But we bought the website, so there is nothing we can do”.

This may seem like a minor issue, but to people with HEC Debt, this is huge.  You may have to spend a year or more finishing your degree than initially expected. For international students that are legally required to do a full course load is critical for them.

Something needs to be done. PERIOD.

We can’t let ANU lie to us about course offerings. We are living in a cost-of-living and education crisis. With a 7.1% HEC Debt rise coming, it is essential for this to change.

I wish to present this petition to the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor and Executive of this university. If they do not listen, then I would like to take to the ACT Minister of Education or the Federal Government.

Will you join me?
