Goal Accomplished: Estella A. Wheeler Park

Dear friends, families, alumni, staff, and community members,

We are proud to share that this journey has officially come to a close  and our goal has been accomplished.

On September 29, 2026, community members, educators, friends, colleagues, and members of the Wheeler family gathered to celebrate the official naming of Estella A. Wheeler Park. What began as an idea to honour Ms. Wheeler through a community garden grew into something much larger: a permanent public tribute recognizing her legacy as an educator, advocate, mentor, and community leader.

On behalf of the Wheeler family, we want to sincerely thank everyone who signed the petition, shared the campaign, donated, attended the ceremony, raised awareness, offered encouragement, and helped advocate for this recognition. Every contribution played a role in making this possible. The park now carries Ms. Wheeler’s name, ensuring that future generations will have an opportunity to learn about and remember the impact she made on students, families, education, and the wider community.

This campaign was always about making sure her story and contributions were not forgotten. Thanks to the support of so many people, Estella A. Wheeler Park is now a reality.

Thank you for believing in this tribute and for helping us honour a lasting legacy.
