Hi all, thank you everyone again for your support! 268 people have signed the petition so far, which I thought was enough to let the FA know about it. The following email has been sent to Jonathan Hall and Darren Bailey this evening: 'Over 250 football loving fans have signed the petition so far, and most have written comments about why they signed. Please will you take the time to read these, as this is an issue people feel very strongly about. The balance is wrong at present, as in a player’s mind the ‘prize’ or reward for a dive outweighs the risk of being caught and likely punishment. This balance needs to change, and then players will soon stop diving. The FA should be taking a strong position on this issue - retrospective action is required, with bans for players who are clearly shown to have cheated. Please also inform the FA staff who monitor the Twitter account that all tweets received with wording ‘@FA #stopdiving’ are related to this campaign. The petition is still at an early stage, but has received some publicity on VitalFootball sites, and is not something that will go away. I expect a flood of signatures after the next high profile diving incident, which cannot be far away. I will keep you informed of progress as petition numbers increase – the sooner some firm action is taken on this the better.' Please continue to spread the word amongst friends and colleagues - I also suggest that everyone who has signed sends a tweet saying '@FA #stopdiving' The FA are aware that these all relate to the petition. Thank you again for your support - this issue will not go away, and I expect the FA will have to act on it shortly. Jim Barker (@desmond58)
