The Issue

For generations, Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park IL has been a place of remembrance, reflection, and connection for families throughout our community. It is a sacred space where loved ones are honored, memories are preserved, and grief is met with comfort and peace.

The current 4:00 PM gate closure places an unnecessary barrier on families who wish to visit those they have lost. For many working individuals, parents, and school-aged children, weekday visits have become nearly impossible. Families often arrive after work or school only to find locked gates, preventing them from spending meaningful time at the gravesites of their loved ones.

Access to a loved one's final resting place should not be limited by a schedule that fails to reflect the realities of modern life. Families who have entrusted Forest Home Cemetery with the care of their loved ones deserve reasonable opportunities to visit, reflect, and pay their respects.

We respectfully urge Forest Home Cemetery to extend visiting hours to at least 7:00 PM, allowing families greater access during evening hours. This simple change would provide countless individuals with the opportunity to maintain cherished connections, honor family traditions, and find solace during difficult times.

Because love, remembrance, and healing do not end at 4:00 PM. Memories do not follow a clock.

Please sign this petition and help ensure that Forest Home Cemetery remains an accessible and welcoming place of reflection, remembrance, and respect for all families in our community.
