Petition to Extend Operating Hours for Community Lights and Pickleball Courts

To: Valley Stream Recreation Department

We, the undersigned members of our community, are writing to request an extension of operating hours for the lights and pickleball courts at Hendrickson Park. Currently, these facilities close at 6 PM, limiting access for residents who wish to enjoy recreational activities in the evening.

Reasons for Our Petition:

Increased Usage: As our community grows, more residents are engaging in outdoor activities, particularly pickleball. Extending hours will accommodate working individuals and families who cannot participate during the day.
Health and Well-Being: Access to recreational activities after work supports physical health, mental well-being, and social interaction among community members.

Safety and Visibility: Adequate lighting allows for safer play and enhances the community's evening atmosphere.

Community Engagement: Extended hours will encourage more community events, fostering connections among residents.

Proposed Change:

We request that the lights and pickleball courts remain open until 8 PM daily.
