Petition to Establish a Legal Dirt Bike/OHRV Riding Area at Greeley Park Boat Ramp

The City of Nashua and the Nashua Parks and Recreation Department

We, the undersigned residents of Nashua, respectfully petition the City to consider establishing a designated, legal dirt bike and Off-Highway Recreational Vehicle (OHRV) riding area for our community at the Greeley Park boat ramp.

Purpose:

Our community includes a growing number of responsible OHRV and dirt bike enthusiasts who currently lack safe, legal spaces within city limits to ride. We believe that creating a designated area at the Greeley Park boat ramp would:

 • Promote Safety: A legal riding area provides a controlled environment, reducing the likelihood of unauthorized use in non-designated areas.

 • Encourage Responsible Riding: A dedicated space would support responsible and legal use of OHRVs within Nashua.

 • Boost Local Recreation: Such an area would offer Nashua residents an additional outdoor activity option that supports active lifestyles.

 • Build Community: A designated area would bring together riders from diverse backgrounds and ages, fostering a greater sense of community.

Why Greeley Park Boat Ramp?

The Greeley Park boat ramp area offers a unique location that is both suitable for recreational use and respectful of neighboring properties. It is situated away from residential areas, with natural borders that make it ideal for a designated riding space. To the east, it borders the river, while to the west lies the lower area of Greeley Park. Woods provide boundaries to the north and south, offering a natural buffer that minimizes impact on the surrounding community.

Additionally, the neighboring town of Merrimack, NH, has an established dirt bike and OHRV track that would be a good model for Nashua’s proposed area. Merrimack’s track, which would fit well at the boat ramp location, closes at sunset and remains closed on Sundays to manage sound levels and respect local residents. Nashua could adopt similar operating hours and restrictions to maintain community peace and manage sound effectively.

This location would allow riders to enjoy their activity in an area that does not disturb nearby homes, making it a fitting choice for a legal dirt bike and OHRV space within Nashua.

Call to Action:

We ask city officials to consider this proposal and open a dialogue with Nashua residents about establishing a legal riding area. We further request a feasibility study on the suitability of the Greeley Park boat ramp area for OHRV activities.

Thank you for your support in creating a safe, legal, and community-centered space for Nashua’s OHRV and dirt bike enthusiasts.
