My name is Breonna Tabb, and I’m calling on you to help bring urgent attention to my brother, Devonta Owens, who is currently missing after being held in Pinckneyville Correctional Center in Illinois. Devonta was scheduled for release, but instead of walking free, he has disappeared without explanation.

We have not heard from him.
We have not seen him.
We fear for his life and safety.

Before his disappearance, Devonta reported being heavily medicated without consent, physically restrained, and beaten by staff and correctional officers. This is not just abuse — this is torture and unlawful detention.

No human being should vanish in state custody.
No family should be denied the right to know where their loved one is.

 My brother is in Pinckneyville Correctional Center he was suppose to be released today but they are stating he don’t want to sign his release papers. We drove all the way out there today just to be turned around and they saying he is refusing to leave the facility. THAT IS A LIE, we haven’t spoken to my brother in over a year, we haven’t seen him nor heard his voice. We have been calling and everyone there has been telling us no we cannot see him, and lying saying he want to stay🤦🏾‍♀️ My mom made them put him on the phone when we was there and it took them a while to do it, once my mom spoken to him he said he wasn’t refusing to sign they haven’t given him any paperwork to sign, my brother said he want to leave there he want to come home but they are refusing to let him go. My brother has been getting mistreated there  and he stated they restrain him and beat him everyday😡😡 we refuse to let this continue to happen, we have spoken with others who family members are going through the same thing at Pinckneyville Correctional center. THIS HAS TOO STOP, WE HAVE TO SPEAK UP💯My brother have his family behind him and we coming STRONG💯💯 If anyone else have family members or had a family member in Pinckneyville please reach out to me. We are asking for all the help we can get to spread the word about corruption and mistreating inmates in Pinckneyville & and other IDOC FACILITIES 🚨
