Owner drivers on the CX platform are constantly being given a ‘pays £????’ figure in the notes on shipments. CX is a ‘bidding’ platform and as such, members should not be asked to accept a set price, unless the job is posted as a ‘backload’. You should be able and be expected to bid the price that you are happy to do the job for. You will then either win or loose the job when the shipper accepts whichever bid from all the bids submitted, and this would of course not only be down to the price you have quoted, but also on your feedback etc.

CX is loosing hundreds of professional owner drivers who cannot win jobs when quoting a reasonable rate, because shippers seem to think it’s ok to pay say £100 for a 250 mile job in a Luton Van! The platform is endorsing such behaviour by allowing this situation to continue without any action on behalf of its owner driver members.

The platform cannot continue like this, with a never ending merry go round of new drivers starting, and existing drivers leaving the platform quite quickly after loosing a lot of money, after being promised unrealistic rates and rarely being able to achieve any profit on these ridiculous prices being offered by unscrupulous shippers. On top of this, lots of the good long term drivers are leaving the platform because it’s nearly impossible to earn a living wage at the rates being offered. 

We are calling on CX to make some simple changes to protect its owner-drivers, to stop the rot.

Proposal to CX:

Any hot-shot (immediate) job posted on CX must not have any statement as to the expected bid rate.  You may specify a rate if it is specified as a BACKLOAD job that does not have hot-shot timings.

Shippers breaking this rule should be reported to CX via a support ticket, with the CX job number, and there should be a ‘3 strikes’ rule (with the appropriate email warnings) that if the rule is broken 3 times within a 3 month period, their account will be suspended for 7 days.
