Petition: Defend BTS's SUGA (Yoongi) Against False DUI Allegations and Misleading Media Reporting

We, the undersigned, write this petition with grave concern over the baseless allegations surrounding BTS member SUGA (Yoongi) in relation to an alleged Driving Under the Influence (DUI) incident. As dedicated fans, supporters, and members of the public who respect truth and justice, we are deeply troubled by the harmful spread of misinformation and the unjust defamation that Yoongi is facing.

 

It has come to our attention that certain media outlets, both within South Korea and internationally, are circulating unverified rumors regarding Yoongi being involved in a DUI. These allegations are entirely unfounded, as there is no credible evidence or legal confirmation to support these claims. The damage caused by such reckless reporting can irreversibly tarnish not only Yoongi’s personal reputation but also BTS’s global standing, which has been built on hard work, integrity, and a positive influence.

 

CCTV Footage Debunks DUI Claims  

A detailed review of available CCTV footage from the incident in question clearly shows that Yoongi was riding an e-scooter at a near walking speed, adhering to all safety precautions. He was in the correct lane, away from cars, and was wearing a helmet, following all the guidelines expected of a responsible rider. After riding for approximately 500 meters, Yoongi took a sharp turn in front of his residence, causing him to lose balance and fall momentarily. However, he quickly stood up without any sign of serious injury.

This footage clearly shows that the incident was a minor fall from an e-scooter due to a sharp turn. no one was hurt, and no property was damaged. Yoongi took immediate responsibility for his actions,he immediately apologized on weverse. (For DUI)

The Media's Role in Spreading Misinformation 

We are particularly concerned with media outlets like @Koreaboo and others that have irresponsibly continued to publish updates every hour, perpetuating falsehoods regarding Yoongi’s involvement in a DUI. These reports have incited unnecessary panic and confusion among fans and have given antis an opportunity to further disparage Yoongi and BTS as a whole. It is critical to understand that such careless reporting, especially when not backed by any verified evidence, can have long-lasting negative effects on the mental health and well-being of the individuals involved, And not only that the media also released private information such as where is lives out to the public, putting his privacy in danger.

 

As a global celebrity and role model to millions of people, Yoongi has consistently demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior throughout his career. He, along with his BTS members, have played an instrumental role in raising awareness about social issues, mental health, and promoting positivity. Unjustly targeting Yoongi with false claims not only disrespects his work and contributions but also undermines the responsibility that media outlets have in delivering truthful and balanced news.

 

Demands for Corrective Action  

Given the above, we, as concerned fans and supporters of the truth, demand the following actions to be taken immediately:

 

1. Public Apology: We demand that media outlets such as @Koreaboo, as well as any other sources that have falsely reported on this incident, issue a public apology to SUGA (Yoongi), BTS, and their global fanbase (ARMY). This apology should acknowledge the spreading of misinformation and take responsibility for the harm caused by their false reports.

 

2. Retraction of False Reports: All news articles, blogs, social media posts, and reports falsely accusing Yoongi of a DUI must be immediately retracted. Clear statements should be made on these platforms clarifying the facts of the situation, including the footage that proves the nature of the e-scooter incident.

 

3. Stricter Guidelines for Future Reporting: We call for media outlets to adopt stricter guidelines when reporting on celebrities, ensuring that no story is published without proper verification from reliable sources. Spreading unverified rumors not only damages the reputations of those involved but also undermines journalistic integrity.

 

4. Accountability for Anti-Fan Harassment: We also urge media outlets and social media platforms to take stronger action against antis and internet trolls who use such false stories to harass and bully public figures. The continuous targeting of celebrities like Yoongi by spreading baseless claims must not be tolerated, and such behavior should be addressed with stricter enforcement of platform policies.

 

  

As fans and individuals who believe in justice and fairness, we stand firmly by Yoongi’s side. We know him to be a person of integrity, talent, and responsibility. His work has inspired millions around the world, and he deserves better than to be maligned by false accusations. The spread of false information is not only harmful to Yoongi but also to all those who look up to him and respect his work.

 

We call on all media outlets, platforms, and individuals to rectify their wrongdoings and take accountability for the unnecessary harm caused to SUGA (Yoongi). We also ask fellow fans and members of the public to continue supporting Yoongi through these times and to speak up against false narratives that seek to damage his character.

 

By signing this petition, we collectively voice our support for the truth and demand justice for SUGA (Yoongi). Let us put an end to the spread of misinformation and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
