We, the undersigned, are reaching out to our community to seek support for the conversion of one tennis court at Bella Mar into four semi-permanent pickleball courts. This proposal emerged from a detailed discussion involving board representatives, tennis, and pickleball representatives during a recent Tennis Committee/HOA meeting. Our aim is to enrich our community’s recreational facilities to reflect the growing interest and participation in pickleball, a sport enjoyed by residents of all ages.

Background:

Recent discussions highlighted the need for more pickleball facilities due to the courts being fully booked, especially over weekends, and the impracticality of the dual-use courts currently in place. The lack of permanent pickleball courts has led to wear and tear of equipment, issues of safety, and the need for more seating due to the social nature of pickleball.

Proposal Highlights:

• Conversion of Bella Mar Court #1: This court is preferred due to better lighting conditions. The conversion would include the installation of four regulation pickleball courts, ensuring more efficient use of space and resources.
• Safety and Accessibility Enhancements: Including a 4’ tall fence along the centerline for safety and the addition of a secondary gate for easier access.
• Community and Environmental Considerations: Noise level studies around the tennis courts have confirmed that pickleball activity does not exceed the existing ambient noise levels of adjacent basketball courts, ensuring minimal impact on our community's tranquility.
