Subject: Petition to Cease Clean Cut Hair Style and No Hoodie Enforcement

Dear The British School Administration,

We, the undersigned parents and guardians of British International School, an international school, are writing this petition to express our concerns regarding the sudden enforcement of clean cut hair style and the prohibition of hoodies in the middle of the academic year. We believe that these new policies have been implemented without proper consultation or consideration of the impact on students and their families.

As an international school, we believe it is important to apply international standards and consider the practices followed in other countries. We would like to bring to your attention that clean hair cuts have been legally challenged and ruled out as discriminatory in other jurisdictions. These rulings highlight the importance of respecting the rights of individuals to express their cultural, religious, and personal identities through their appearance.

While we understand the importance of maintaining a neat appearance and promoting discipline, we feel that the abrupt implementation of these policies has caused unnecessary disruption and confusion among the students. Many parents had already purchased hoodies in accordance with the previous dress code guidelines, and students have been turned away from classes upon arrival, causing frustration and inconvenience.

Our goal is to find a balanced approach that allows for clean and well-groomed hair while respecting the individuality and personal expression of students. We propose that the school revise the policy to allow longer hair as long as it is maintained in a tidy manner. We firmly believe that if students demonstrate their commitment to neatness and hygiene by tidying their hair, there is no reason for it to be forcibly cut.

Moreover, we request that students be permitted to wear hoodies as long as they are worn over the required shirt and tie, ensuring a professional appearance while providing comfort and practicality.

It is important to note that the majority of boys attending our school have had longer hair and have been allowed to wear hoodies for the past three years. This demonstrates that these practices have been accepted and supported by the school community. By revisiting and modifying the current policies, we can foster a positive learning environment that respects the diverse needs and preferences of our students, in line with international standards.

We kindly request your immediate attention to this matter and urge you to reconsider the enforcement of the clean cut hair style and the ban on hoodies. We believe that an open and collaborative dialogue between the school administration, parents, and students can lead to a fair and reasonable resolution.

Attached to this petition, you will find the signatures and contact information of parents, guardians, and teachers who support this cause. We hope that you will give due consideration to our collective voice and take the necessary steps to address our concerns.

Thank you for your time and understanding. We look forward to a positive response that upholds the best interests of our students and the school community.

Yours sincerely,

Student's of British International School
