The Issue

We, the families and community of Bethel Elementary, respectfully request the return of our former crossing guard, Mr. Burris, to his post.

While we sincerely appreciate and value the other crossing guards who keep our children safe each day, Mr. Burris has become a true fixture of our school community. His presence has gone far beyond the role of a crossing guard—he has created meaningful connection with students and parents.

Mr. Burris starts each morning with a friendly wave that sets a positive tone for the day.  He takes the time to chat with families before dismissal, making everyone feel seen and valued.  His loyal dog, perched happily in the backseat, brings smiles to students and parents alike, becoming a beloved part of the daily routine.

Mr. Burris has built trust and a sense of community that is deeply appreciated. The families of Bethel look forward to seeing him each day, and his absence has been felt by all.

We strongly believe that bringing Mr. Burris back would not only restore a treasured tradition but also reinforce the safety, warmth, and spirit of connection that makes Bethel Elementary so special.

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that Mr. Burris be reinstated as our school crossing guard.
