The Issue

Dear Reddit Administration, We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who have come together to express our deep concern and disappointment regarding the content and activities taking place on the r/India subreddit. This subreddit, with over 1 million users, has become a breeding ground for hate speech, abuse, and misinformation targeting Hinduism, Hindu festivals, and Indian leadership, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We believe that the r/India subreddit is in direct violation of Reddit's content policy, which prohibits content that "encourages, glorifies, incites, or calls for violence or physical harm against an individual or a group of people." The subreddit has been promoting and running anti-Hindu and anti-BJP agendas, often using derogatory language and misinformation to fuel hatred and division among the Indian community. Specific instances of abuse include: 1. Disrespect and mockery of the Holy Gita, a sacred Hindu scripture, through offensive memes and comments. 2. Derogatory language and insults directed at Hindu festivals, customs, and traditions. 3. Promotion of hate speech and misinformation against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including death threats and calls for violence against him. We believe that such content and behavior have no place on a platform like Reddit, which aims to foster healthy discussions and communities. We request the Reddit administration to take immediate action against the r/India subreddit by banning it and sending a clear message that hate speech and abuse will not be tolerated on this platform. We hope that you will take our concerns seriously and act promptly to ensure that Reddit remains a safe and inclusive platform for users from all backgrounds
