Amend harsh pet import law that's tearing families apart

Amend harsh pet import law that's tearing families apart
The Issue
The law passed in April 2013, bans tourists and visitors from travelling with their pets into India. This law was created to curb illegal imports and breeding, but it is affecting more innocents than criminals. Today pet parents are being asked to choose between visiting a country and their children, who may not be human but have been raised with every ounce of love that would match any parent's love for their child. If a pet parent has to visit India they would potentially have to abandon their pets and give them up to shelters.
I have created this petition to help bring change to this hostile law that was created with the best intentions but is going to result in many abandoned pets torn away from their loving forever homes and probably put down if they don’t find another one. No one should have to give up his or her family or children.
There are many efficient alternative ways to implement a better law that would protect innocent pet loving people and also keep all criminals in check. I have proposed a few suggestions to this law that could help bring balance and a better chance of success. We need to come together and create a better world for our furry friends who give us nothing but love and joy. We cannot abandon them. Not today, not ever.
Let's join hands and help bring change to this well-intentioned but heartbreaking and unfair law to help protect animals and families that will be adversely affected by it. Please join us and help make a difference.
We need a significantly large number of signatures (our goal is 1 Million) to make a difference. After you sign, please proactively inspire more people to sign and spread this message. Furry, innocent voiceless souls will be forever grateful.
