Petition to Allow Year-Round RV Storage Without Length Restrictions in Bloomington, MN

Petition to Allow Year-Round RV Storage Without Length Restrictions in Bloomington, MN
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents of Bloomington, MN, respectfully request an amendment to the city’s RV storage regulations. The current ordinance limits RV storage in residential driveways to a maximum of 72 hours within a 7-day period and prohibits RVs over 40 feet in length. These restrictions are unnecessary and place undue burdens on RV owners.
We request the following changes to Bloomington’s RV storage ordinance:
1. Allow RV storage in residential driveways year-round, with no time limitations.
2. Remove the 40-foot length restriction, allowing all RVs to be stored in driveways regardless of size.
3. Permit RVs to be parked in driveways as long as they do not obstruct sidewalks or create safety hazards.
4. Ensure that RV owners maintain their vehicles in good condition to preserve neighborhood aesthetics.
Many Bloomington residents own RVs and use them frequently. The current regulations force RV owners to seek expensive storage options or move their vehicles regularly, creating unnecessary inconvenience. Furthermore, RV size should not be a determining factor in whether a resident can store their vehicle on their own property. Updating this ordinance will support responsible RV owners while maintaining neighborhood integrity. We urge the Bloomington City Council to consider our request and revise the city’s RV storage regulations accordingly.
