Zach Jorgensen started this petition to FAA and

Many wheelchair users, including me, absolutely love traveling but we can’t do it as often as we would like to and we can't travel to all the places we would like because flying is extremely difficult for us. As of now, wheelchair users are not allowed to stay in their wheelchairs while flying on an airplane. This means that when flying, a wheelchair user is required to abandon their wheelchair and transfer to a normal airplane seat, causing multiple concerns. First, the wheelchair has to be stored beneath the plane with the other luggage which puts it at great risk of being damaged. Also, the wheelchair is fitted to the user to ensure comfort and ease of pain, so sitting in a normal airplane seat could be painful and extremely uncomfortable. The reasons that wheelchair users are not allowed to stay in their wheelchairs while flying on an airplane is that they claim that it is too costly and inefficient. The technology is readily available and funding could be easily created in order to make this happen. CLICK HERE to read an article  that explains the technology and funding available.

People with disabilities are just as normal as able bodied people and we deserve to be treated as such. We have the same right as everyone else to travel whenever and wherever we want. We also deserve to do this while being comfortable and pain free. High costs, difficulty, and inefficiency should not be excuses to neglect and discriminate against people with disabilities! Change needs to be made to make traveling more accessible! Please help make this change!
