Petition to allow Solar Lights, Windmills, Hanging Clothes & Toys on graves at Llwyncelyn

Petition to allow Solar Lights, Windmills, Hanging Clothes & Toys on graves at Llwyncelyn
The Issue
We, the undersigned, respectfully petition Torfaen Council and the management of Llwyncelyn Cemetery to review and revise current regulations that restrict personal memorial items on grave plots.
Our request is simple. We ask that bereaved families be allowed to place solar lights, windmills, small hanging clothes, and toys on their loved ones’ graves.
These personal items are not just decorations, they are meaningful tokens of love, remembrance, and grief. They provide comfort to families and honour the memory of those we have lost.
Our community believes in compassion and respect for the grieving process.
While we understand the need for cemetery maintenance and safety, we believe a balanced and compassionate approach can be found. One that allows families to grieve and memorialise their loved ones while maintaining the dignity of the cemetery grounds.
We respectfully ask the Council and Cemetery Management to:
- Reconsider and revise restrictions on personal memorial items.
- Engage with affected families to create compassionate guidelines.
- Allow for reasonable, respectful placement of solar lights, toys, windmills and clothing on grave plots.
We believe everyone deserves the right to remember their loved ones in a meaningful way.
We thank you for your time, understanding, and compassion as you consider this request.
On behalf of the families and community members of Cwmbran.
