Petition to Allow Residents to Keep Hens in Hutchinson, Minnesota

We, the undersigned residents of Hutchinson, Minnesota, request that the city council permit residents to keep up to six hens within city limits.

Families, homeowners, and individuals who want to embrace sustainable living, access fresh eggs, and educate their children on responsible animal care are currently restricted by city ordinances. Many other communities successfully allow backyard hens, and we seek the same opportunity.

Other cities have successfully implemented backyard hen policies while maintaining cleanliness and neighborhood harmony.

As interest in sustainable living grows, updating our ordinances is timely and beneficial for our community. Neighboring cities have successfully enacted backyard chicken policies with clear regulations to ensure responsible ownership. There is no reason why Hutchinson cannot do the same.
