Canada becoming the 51st state in not going to happen. However, many Canadians and Americans are disenfranchised with their current governments. Many conservative Canadians are willing and want American style freedom, while many liberal Americans have expressed a desire to move to Canada due to it's progressive social and economic policies. Emigrating to the USA is particularly difficult and immigrating to Canada is also not a sure thing, as Canada is reducing it's immigration numbers. This petition, with enough signatures will land on the laps of Canadian and American ambassadors with hopes of opening an avenue for Canadian and American citizens to "swap" citizenships and live in a nation more closely aligned with their values.
