In the township of Stowe, we the residents of Benwood are petitioning  to add speed humps on Benwood Avenue. We are requesting that they install a speed humps on Benwood Ave, to slow down traffic and make our community safer for children walking to school and residents who live in this area.

The posted speed on Benwood avenue is 15mph, and cars speed up and down like it’s a drag race. I have a motion activated recorded camera. They speed so fast that sometimes it only picks up the bumpers of the vehicles. There have been several accidents between cars driving and parked cars. One resident has had her mirror hit off well over 5 different times. Even getting into our cars has become dangerous. My kids and myself have almost been hit numerous occasions. On October 7, 2022 another resident of Benwood, the car was hit during the night. The car looks as if it was T-bone. The total amount of damage was around $7,000. Below you will see videos of just what the residence of Benwood deal with on a daily occurrence, please help us.

We ask you to help us take action now before someone is gravely injured or even hit and killed by one of the speeding cars. We ask you to help us and show the township that speed humps are necessary.Speed is one of the most common causes of traffic crashes throughout Allegheny County according to data collected by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)
