Dear Supporters,
Yesterday, the ME Association submitted a very detailed response to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) relating to the current proposal to not update the NICE guideline on ME/CFS.
We set out in considerable detail why the NICE guideline needs updating, especially in relation to the way it fails to provide any meaningful or appropriate advice on the management of people with severe ME/CFS and the recommendation that everyone with mild or moderate ME/CFS should be offered CBT and/or GET.
Our response also included reference to the NICE petition, and to the number of people who had signed it. However - after being asked to keep the petition open for just a few more days - we decided we will send it to Sir Andrew Dillon at 9.00 am Monday morning.
This means you have this weekend to gather any last-minute signatures!
We will publish our response to NICE on Monday morning - after the deadline for stakeholder submissions has passed.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the petition. We will do our very best to ensure that NICE - and others - take notice.
Dr Charles Shepherd
Hon. Medical Adviser, ME Association.
